Cosmetic Injections

Meet our cosmetic injector Sarah Arseneault.

Neurotoxin Treatment

Neurotoxins, also known as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are injectable solutions that temporarily block nerve receptors in the muscle, preventing lines and wrinkles from forming. They can be used to treat muscle stiffness, muscle spasms, excessive sweating, and overactive bladder. This cosmetic treatment is the #1 non-surgical procedure since 2000.

Neurotoxins target underlying causes of fine lines on the face, such as repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting. Your dermatologist will inject the muscles with the neurotoxins to essentially pause muscle activity. The temporary absence of contracting facial muscles will cause lines to be reduced or removed as the skin naturally renews itself.

PRE-TREATMENT

Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising).

Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications prior to treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo Biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood-thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.

POST-TREATMENT

Do not lie down for 3 hours following treatment.

Avoid manipulation of the treated area for a minimum of four hours.

Common side effects include a slight headache lasting a few hours up to 48 hours, and temporary bruising and/or swelling.

Avoid aesthetic lasers, microdermabrasion, or IPL over areas with Filler for one week after treatment.

Required Downtime

With little downtime and almost immediate results, Botox® and Dysport Cosmetic can help you restore a smoother, more youthful appearance to the face.

FoLLOW-UP

Full Treatment effect will take 5 to 10 days.

The benefits of treatment may last 3 to 4 months; the average is 4 months.

Follow-up treatments should be scheduled prior to the return of full movement of muscle, usually at three months.

Cosmetic Filler

Juvéderm® and Restylane are the most popular dermal fillers available for facial rejuvenation. These minimally-invasive injectable treatment can be an excellent option for smoothing folds in the skin. Additionally, it can add volume to facial tissues to help improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles, as well as augment the lips and mid-cheek for a fuller, smoother look.

PRE TREATMENT

Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising).

Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications prior to treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.

POST TREATMENT

Swelling, redness, and tenderness will occur after your treatment and usually resolves within 72 hours.

Cold compresses (a cloth dipped in cold water, wrung out, and applied to the injected area) may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling.

Avoid touching the treated area within 6 hours of treatment so you do not accidentally injure your skin. After that, the area can be gently washed with soap and water.

Until there is no redness or swelling, avoid exposure of the treated area to intense heat (sun lamp or sun bathing) or extreme cold weather.

Avoid taking aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s wort, fish oil and high doses of Vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment. These agents may increase the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

Avoid aesthetic lasers, microdermabrasion, or IPL over areas with Filler for one week after treatment.
